The Volgenau School of Engineering's Department of Computer Science is the proud recipient of a George Mason University Provost PhD Award. This award, funded by the Office of the Provost and administered through the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, provides graduate funding to Mason PhD programs, "…on a performance basis and is intended to strategically invest in Mason's strongest programs, high potential start up programs, and those with the greatest potential for improvement."
The selection committee, consisting of Drs. Reeshad Dalal (CHSS), Cody Edwards (Provost Office), Karina Korostelina (SCAR), Jill Nelson (VSE), and Andrea Weeks (COS), reviewed 14 well-documented and well qualified submissions. Each PhD program submission was rated with a focus on the purpose and criteria established in the Request for Proposals.
"This was a difficult decision considering the strength of Mason's PhD programs," said Cody Edwards, Associate Provost for Graduate Education. "Thanks to all of those involved in preparing and submitting proposals. I would also like to express our collective appreciation to the members of the selection committee."
