- March 25, 2024On March 21, 2024, Break Through Tech Mason hosted "A Day in the Life: Tech Jobs Unveiled," a panel event featuring Jamie Bowers, Site Reliability Engineer at Microsoft; Veeraj Modi, Security Analyst at Microsoft; and Cassandra Rothrauff, Senior Computer Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton. Each panelist discussed their path in the tech industry as well as advice they would offer students just starting out.

- October 5, 2023A postdoc program for health researchers interested in statistics and data science, run jointly by George Mason’s statistics and global and community health departments, with mentors from Mason and Inova Health, has developed from the ongoing partnership between Inova Health and George Mason’s Statistics Collaboration Core. Mohamad Bahij Moumneh, MD, and Jason F. Goldberg, MD, are the program’s standing inaugural members.
- September 28, 2023Computer science sophomore Jax Dumfee chose Mason because of its Competitive Cyber team. Students from all majors at all levels can participate in the organization and gain practical skills for a future working in the tech sector.
- September 25, 2023At the 2023 Joint Statistics Meeting, one of the largest statistics events in the world, George Mason’s statistics department teamed up with Georgetown’s data science department and George Washington’s statistics department to co-host the first Georges Reception. Students, alumni, faculty, and friends gathered to network with fellow DC area locals.

- September 21, 2023Professor of statistics Lily Wang is leading a multi-institutional, interdisciplinary team to find biomarkers for aging-related diseases from the latest biomedical imaging techniques. A program run by the NSF and NIH has awarded Wang’s team $1,199,772 for the study.
- September 14, 2023The Department of Computer Science will host its first ever study abroad program in Vienna, Austria. Students can immerse themselves in the Austrian way of life while learning about software development during summer 2024.
- July 19, 2023Thanhvu Nguyen, an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, received a coveted Amazon Research Award for his work in AI. He is one among 79 awardees of the Fall 2022 ARA cycle, representing more than 54 universities in 14 countries.
