Dean Ken Ball was a featured guest and panelist at the Two Steps Ahead: Protect Your Digital Life Tour at the Arlington Public Library on December 14, 2015. The event, sponsored by The National Cyber Security Alliance, was designed to educate businesses and consumers about adding layers of security to their everyday online activities.
The message of the Alliance is simple and direct – "Stop|Think|Connect". The Alliance offers good online safety habits with tips and advice. According to research, digital users are ready for a public awareness campaign about online safety. The campaign encourages people to personally make a difference and do more to stay safe online.
Other featured guests included: Special Agent Kara Sidener, FBI; Mary E. Power, President and CEO of the Better Business Bureaus; Jack Bienko, Acting Director of Entrepreneurial Education, U.S. Small Business Administration.
Faculty members, Peggy Brouse, Director of Cyber Security Engineering; Paulo Costa, Associate Professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research; Jim Jones, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Bob Quinn, Deputy Director, Intelligence Community Programs attended the event to promote the Volgenau School of Engineering's cybersecurity educational programs.
