The ITSÂ Security Office reminds the Mason community that cybercriminals step up efforts to get usernames and passwords from Mason faculty, staff, and students using phishing emails during this time of year. Be vigilant:
- Examine email contents carefully. Fraudulent emails often have misspelled words, improper grammar, and requests for credentials or immediate action.
- Make sure the link matches the URL. Check a link by hovering your mouse over the top of the URL to see if the addresses match. If it is not a match, the link is likely malicious.
Before leaving for winter break, turn off non-essential devices, including computers, servers, printers, and monitors.
