Liling Huang

Liling Huang joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at George Mason University as an Associate Professor in 2017. She received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 1995, and a M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Chung Cheng University in 1997.  She earned her PhD in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech in 2003.

Prior to pursuing the doctorate degree at Virginia Tech, she worked at the Taiwan Development and Trust Corporation as a certified professional engineer from 1992 to 1997. Her role included designing utility systems for high-rise buildings and managing public sector projects. She was granted a one-year scholarship by Taiwan Provincial Government and came to the U.S. as a visiting scholar at Virginia Tech in 1998. During her time there, she conducted research on energy management and ice storage systems in high-rise buildings. Upon the completion of her research, she proposed the energy-efficient design guidelines for high-rise buildings.

Huang was a professor in the Engineering Department at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) from 2008 to 2017, and taught at Southeastern University for one year prior to joining NVCC. She has instructed and developed a variety of engineering courses including face-to-face, hybrid and online courses. Huang received the Outstanding Service to Education from NVCC in 2013. Her research interests are in the field of power systems operation, protection and control, smart grid, and renewable energy.
